All high school seniors who live in House District 67 are eligible to apply and can do so by submitting an essay of
up to 750 words describing their favorite book or the book that has had the largest impact on their lives. Entries can
be submitted through the student's high school counseling office, or sent directly to Byrum's office. Essays must be

Criteria
1. Students are asked to submit an essay of no more than 750 words on their favorite book or the book that has
made the largest impact on their life.
2. All graduating high school seniors are eligible to enter.
3. Participating students must live in the 67th State House District.
4. Students should include a letter of acceptance to the university, college, community college or technical
school they plan to attend in the fall of 2009.
5. Students must include a cover sheet with their name, home address, and home phone number.

Each student's essay, letter of acceptance, and cover sheet must be received in the high school counseling office by
Winning entries
A three-judge panel will choose the two entries that best describe the student's favorite book, why said book is
their favorite, and how the book has impacted their life.
Award
One $500 check will be presented to each of the two winners.
