LANSING – Speaker of the House Andy Dillon (D-Redford Township) today named State Representative Barb Byrum (D-Onondaga) to Caucus Chair.
"I am thankful for these new opportunities presented to me," said Byrum, who also was named Chair of the Insurance Committee last week. "These new roles that I have undertaken will be a welcome challenge and I look forward to collaborating with colleagues on both sides of the aisle on legislation that will be important to all Michigan residents."
The Caucus Chair summons members to Caucus meetings during House sessions and runs the Caucus meetings.
"Michigan is facing unprecedented challenges and will be put to the test in the coming months," Byrum said. "The Legislature is ready to guide our state through these times, and I know we will emerge a stronger state and community. I stress bipartisanship because working together is the only way to make Michigan a better place to live, work and raise a family."
